With a growing population and an increase in construction projects, the State of North Carolina recognized a need for innovation and modernization. The State Property Office, under the North Carolina Department of Administration (DOA), wanted to move away from the text-based search engine they were using to manage their inventory of real estate.
They teamed up with our friends at Patrick Engineering to find a better way to visualize and share the data for their 11,000 state-owned buildings and 5 million square feet of leased space.
Leveraging the state's existing Esri and Cartegraph data, the team turned to ArcGIS Experience Builder—a tool that allows users to transform data into web apps without writing any code. The new site is viewable on mobile devices, incorporates maps to give geographic context to data, and enables better search functionality for users.
