  • Three-step submission.Airport SMS uses a simple three-step process to help users submit common safety incidents, complete with location, identifying details and photos.

  • No login necessary. The application ensures that incidents are submitted securely and, if preferred, anonymously.

  • Customizable incident lists.Customizable drop-down menus allow organizations to specify exactly which airfield incidents can and cannot be submitted, ensuring that pressing incidents are still being reported through the appropriate safety and security channels.

  • Submission tracking.  Airport SMS promotes safety and encourages participation by allowing users to conveniently submit incident reports and easily view the progress of their submissions.

  • Integration ready.  Airport SMS ties directly to the Cartegraph WORKdirector work management application, giving airports the ability to track incidents, accidents, and requests from initial report through completion. The application also integrates seamlessly with Cartegraph Asset Management Solutions to track asset inventory and inspections, and create asset maintenance schedules.

The application was first developed in partnership with Dubuque Regional Airport (DBQ) — a Federal Aviation Administration(FAA) SMS pilot study member — and Texas-based consulting firm Applied Research Associates (ARA).

Using Airport SMS, DBQ has become one of the first U.S. Part 139 Airports to achieve compliance with the FAA’sproposed external SMS requirements.

“No other technology provider has an application that fits this mold,” said Todd Dalsing, Airport Operations and Maintenance Supervisor, Dubuque Regional Airport.  “It supports a lot of things that the airports do now.  But it provides a better way of tracking it, documenting it and finding ways to improve the airport as a whole.”

Cartegraph Introduces YourGOV Mobile for iPhone™ and Android™

DUBUQUE, Iowa — Cartegraph, a leading provider of integrated government technology, has just released an updated version of YourGOV Mobile, an innovative citizen request application that allows users to report non-emergency issues and service requests — such as potholes, vandalism and street light outages — directly from their mobile smartphones.

In addition to updated features and increased performance, the latest version of YourGOV Mobile is fully functional on any smartphone running Google’s Android operating system (version 2.1 and higher).  Prior to this update, YourGOV Mobile was only available to users of the Apple iPhone.

Other highlighted features include:

  • Android-specific design introduces press and hold option for specifying issue locations
  • Voice search and voice detail entry

The City of Golden, CO, a longtime YourGOV user, has experienced great success with the application.  “We can show the citizens that we’re listening to them, we are hearing them,” said Quint Pertzsch, GIS Coordinator, City of Golden. “And they are helping us out by being our eyes in the field.  I think that’s a win-win for everyone.”

Pertzsch also described how the integration of YourGOV with the city’s WORKdirector work management system benefits the community as a whole, especially in common cases such as potholes, and downed signs and trees. “If the citizen has a direct contact—whether they’re calling us, logging into YourGOV or submitting via their iPhone—that issue is dealt with very, very quickly because it goes directly into our work order system,” said Pertzsch.

According to statistics released by Nielsen Data, as of March, 2011, phones running Google’s Android operating system represented 29 percent of all domestic smartphone purchases.  This compares closely with the Apple iPhone’s 27 percent market share.  By updating the application to accommodate both operating systems, Cartegraph makes YourGOV Mobile available to more than half of all smartphone users in the United States.

YourGOV Mobile is available immediately at the iTunes App Store and Google Market, and will soon be available at the Amazon App Store.

Since 1994, Cartegraph has delivered flexible technology solutions to governments that seek efficiency, accountability, and transparency.  Over 1,000 organizations throughout North America use Cartegraph applications to manage work and assets in their communities.
