Web Application Designer | Product Management

The Web Application Designer’s primary responsibility is to apply the principles and techniques of web design and user experience to develop actionable designs and CSS to meet the desired functionality of our stakeholders and to integrate these designs into our software development process. The Designer will be responsible for working with the Vision Architect to construct working prototypes, page designs, graphics, and mockups to support Product Development, and maintain knowledge of evolving UX design principles and best practices. The ideal candidate should have knowledge of user experience testing and analysis, and front-end development.

At Cartegraph we are developing rich browser-based business applications utilizing the latest web technologies.  The scalable web server components are built using Microsoft’s ASP.NET MVC Framework and renders cross-browser compliant HTML, JavaScript and CSS to the client’s web browser.  HTML 5, JavaScript, JQuery, CSS3 and AJAX are leveraged heavily to develop a rich user experience.  The industry-leading User Experience utilizes Google Maps to provide a location-centric view for all users.  The back-end business logic and data access layers driving the application are written in C# using test-driven design techniques.

  • Four-year degree in web or graphic design required.
  • Previous experience in web-based design and construction utilizing HTML, CSS, Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator/Photoshop) required.
  • Skills desired: UX Design, UI Design, Graphic Design, Web Design, Adobe Creative Suite, Web 2.0, Ajax, CSS, and HTML.
  • Knowledge and experience of user-centered design methods and best practices strongly preferred.
  • Basic understanding of mobile experience design for iOS and Android devices desired.
  • Previous knowledge/experience with user experience testing and analysis, and front-end development is strongly preferred.
  • Must have great attention to detail and design principles including; graphic design, layout, typography, color.
  • Experience with agile methodologies is a plus.
  • Effective organizational and time management skills are critical.
  • Ability to clearly and successfully communicate both verbally and through written communication with internal and external stakeholders required.
  • Proven ability to research and recommend appropriate interactive technologies needed.
